Melvin Craig Nefstead

Melvin Craig Nefstead, 70, formerly of Kings, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 at his home in Fort Pierce, Fla. Craig was born on May 3, 1949 to E. Melvin and Margaret (Furman) Nefstead in Rockford.  

He proudly served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Before retiring to Florida, he was a farmer in the Rochelle / Kings area.

Craig was a 1967 Stillman Valley High School graduate. During his high school career, he participated in choir, FFA and 4-H.  He was a member of the Rochelle VFW Post 3878, the Rochelle Moose and the American Legion in Stillman Valley.

Craig is survived by his brother, Gary (Deb Maas) of Kings.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9 at Elim Reform Church, 140 S. Church Rd., Kings, with Pastor Cary Winn officiating. Burial followed the service at White Rock Cemetery in Kings with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
