BYRON – Meryl S. Nelson, age 87, passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, December 21, 2018. She was born on June 26, 1931 in Rockford the daughter of Clifford and Charlotte (Miller) Compton.
She married Kenneth Nelson on Jan. 18, 1986. Meryl was a member of Cornerstone Family Church in Byron, she loved entertaining people in her home, cooking amazingly delicious food and going to antique auctions. Meryl was a magnet to people of all ages because she had such a loving and generous heart, which was an overflow of her love for Jesus. She will be missed by so many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, and children Geary Nelson, Rick Nelson, Tracy Nelson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth of Byron; children, Gwen Rager of Freeport, Raymond (Diana) Lewis of Oregon, Belinda (Mike) Seabold of Oregon, Rebecca (John) Roberts of Raymond, David Lewis of LaHaina, Maui, Nathan (Amy) Lewis of Oregon, and Lenneth Nelson of Homestead, Ohio; siblings, Jane Prenot, Caleb (Rita) Compton, and Richard Compton, 33 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Visitation began at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at Cornestone Family Church, 205 North Peru St., Byron, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.; Pastor Randy Snider officiated.
