Ogle County Sheriff 1-21-19

At approximately 11 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 10,000 block of N. Illinois Rte. 2 for a one vehicle accident with injuries. After an investigation it was determined that the 2011 Chevrolet Equionx driven by Kathleen M. Garcia, 52, of Oregon was northbound. Garcia drifted across the roadway, for unknown reasons at this time, entered the ditch on the west side of the roadway and struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the accident and Garcia was the sole occupant of hers. Garcia was extricated from the vehicle by Byron Fire and Ambulance and transported to Swedish American Hospital for injuries sustained. Garcia was issued a civil citation for possession of cannabis under 10 gms.

Jan. 16

At 12:15 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff Deputies come upon a single vehicle crash at Rt 2 and Mud Creek Rd. Upon investigating the crash, Deputies determined Kendall Pelt, 46 of Mt Morris, failed to reduce speed to avoid and accident and struck the guardrail on Rt 2 east of Mud Creek Rd. Pelt was arrested for failure to reduce speed, DUI, no valid license, and operating uninsured motor vehicle. Pelt was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he remained in lieu of bond.

Daniel Diehl, 22 of Polo, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County Warrant for Failure to Appear. Diehl has a bond of $451 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Diehl will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Jan. 15

The following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

Matthew Merrit, 25 of Mt. Morris, for Failure to Appear. Merrit has a bond of $206 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Merritt will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Ryan Rush, 34 of Byron, for Failure to Appear. Rush has a bond of $334 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Rush will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Joseph Stafford, age 55 of Aurora, for Escape. Stafford has a bond of $50,000 /10 percent and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Stafford will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Thomas Price, 33 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Price has a bond of $5,084.34 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Price will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Jonathan Wilson, 35 of Whiteside Co, for Failure to Appear. Wilson has a bond of $11,896.90 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Wilson will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Thomas Kanzler, 23 of Dixon, for Failure to Appear. Kanzler has a bond of $281 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Kanzler will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m.

Richard Aurand, 64 of Mt. Morris, for Failure to Appear. Aurand has a bond of $250 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Aurand will appear in court on 01/16/19 at 1 p.m

Jan. 14

At 7:07 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies were checking a vehicle at 105 S Rural Rd in Stillman Valley. Upon further investigation it was determined that the registered owner, Darrin K Akers, 48 of Rockford, had driven into Stillman Valley on a suspended driver’s license. Darrin was arrested for driving while license suspended and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he remained in lieu of bond.

The following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

Kelly Morrison, 34 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Morrison has a bond of $3,625 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Morrison will appear in court on 01/15/19 at 1 p.m.

Dejuan Haslett, 25 of Dekalb, for Failure to Appear. Haslett has a bond of $2,454 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Haslett will appear in court on 01/15/19 at 1 p.m.

Marysol Hernendez, 34 of Aurora, for Failure to Appear. Hernendez has a bond of $184 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Hernendez will appear in court on 01/15/19 at 1 p.m.

Jan. 13

At approximately 12:53 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies investigated a vehicle found located in the ditch near the intersection of Henry Road and Peek Home Road. After further investigation Nathan Linboom, 35 of Polo, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Linboom was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 11:38 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies and the Ashton Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident with injuries on Chana Road 1/2 mile south of Flagg Road in rural Ashton.  A 2001 Ford passenger car driven by Kaitlin Bell, 18, of Ashton was driving northbound on Chana Road when the vehicle slid off the east side of the roadway.  The Ford went into the ditch and struck several trees near a creek.  Bell was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries by the Ashton Ambulance.  Accident remains under investigation.

Jan. 12

At approximately 8:21 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident with an injury in the 1,000 Block of East Il Route 64.  After investigation Deputies learned Rachel Obrien, 22 of Rochelle was traveling eastbound on Il Route 64 in a 2009 Hyundai Accent. Obrien then lost control on the snow covered road and traveled into the north side ditch where she struck an embankment. Obrien was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for minor injuries.

The following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

Iris Estrada, 24 of Oregon, for Failure to Appear. Estrada has a bond of $2,391 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Estrada will appear in court on 01/14/19 at 1 p.m.

Antwon Woodson, 26 of Polo, for Failure to Appear. Woodson has a bond of $412 and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Woodson will appear in court on 01/14/19 at 1 p.m.

James Jaskiewicz, 49 of Mt. Morris, for Failure to Appear. Jaskiewicz was released on a recognizance bond and will appear in court on 01/28/19 at 9 a.m.

At 7:34 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies along with Rochelle EMS/ Hillcrest First Responders responded to the area of Rt. 251 at Powers Rd. for a three vehicle crash with unknown injuries. After an investigation, it was determined a 17-year-old male juvenile was attempting to turn his Nissan truck west onto Powers Rd. from Rt. 251. The truck struck a Chevrolet passenger car traveling southbound on Rt. 251. After being struck, the Chevrolet was pushed into a Ford pickup truck that was waiting at the stop sign on Powers Rd. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by EMS to Rochelle Community Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Jan. 11

At approximately 5:59 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a vehicle vs. bicyclist with an injury. After investigation, Deputies learned a Chevy Equinox driven by Jack Schutten, 87 of Dixon, was traveling northbound in the 1,000 block of South Daysville Road.  John Barnhart, 54 of Oregon, was also traveling northbound on Daysville Road with working flashing front and rear lights on his bicycle. Barnhart was also wearing a reflective vest. Schutten then struck the rear of Barnhart's bicycle causing him to be thrown off. Barnhart was transported to Mercy Health Hospital by Oregon EMS for minor injuries. Schutten was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident

At approximately 6:30 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies and the Franklin Grove Fire Department responded to a 2 vehicle accident with injuries on Lowden Road about 1/4 mile south of Stone Barn Road in rural Franklin Grove. A white Mazda passenger car driven by Michael Chavera, 49, of Dixon was driving northbound on Lowden Road and a red Mazda passenger car driven by Frank Castaldo, 28 of Byron was driving southbound. Both vehicles collided nearly head-on, rolled over at least once and came to a rest in the east ditch of the roadway. Chavera was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ogle county Coroner. Castaldo sustained only minor injuries and declined medical attention. Accident remains under investigation.

Melissa Alumbaugh, 29 of Sterling, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County Warrant for Failure to Appear. Alumbaugh was released on a $1,000 recognizance bond and will appear in court on 02/25/19 at 9 a.m.

Jan. 10

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of 1997 W. Mud Creek Road for a one vehicle accident. The vehicle was driven by Robert E. Friemuth, 60, of Oregon, was located approximately 1/2 mile off of the roadway in a wooded area. Friemuth was taken to OSF St. Anthony Hospital by Life Line helicopter for injuries sustained in the accident/ It is believed that Friemuth had an unknown medical issue that caused the accident. The vehicle was removed by Maggio's towing of Rockford.

Lashawn Walton, 34 of Rockford, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant for Failure to Appear. Walton posted the $733 Full Cash Bond and was released with no further court dates.
