Sept. 25

At 7:44 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 11000 block of East Illinois Rte38 for an equipment violation. After a short investigation Deputies arrested Shannon Mancillas 46 of Ashton Illinois for driving while license suspended. Mancillas was released on an I-bond and will appear in court at a later date.  

At 8:59 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Lincoln Highway for a moving violation. After a short investigation Deputies arrested Samantha Metzger ,27 of Rochelle for Possession of Cannabis Improper Container and a citation for Improper Stopping at a Stop Sign. Metzger was released on scene and will appear in court at a later date. Deputies also arrested Candace Collins 29 of Rochelle for Possession of Cannabis Improper Container, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Zanex).  Collins was transported to the Ogle Co Jail and held in lieu of bond.  

Sept. 23

At approximately 11:57 p.m.Deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Main Street and Chestnut Avenue in Forreston after the a vehicle had been called in as a driving complaint traveling all over the roadway and in the oncoming lane of traffic.  After investigation Deputies placed Bradley Burke, 36 of Dixon under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Burke was additionally issued a citation for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.  Burke was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu bond.   

Sept. 22

At 6:56 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to W. IL RTE 64 and N. IL RTE 26 in reference to a single-vehicle accident with injuries.  After an investigation, Deputies learned Margaret L. Kovaka, 74, of Savannah IL, was driving west bound on W. IL RTE 64. Kovaka drove through the intersection, exited the roadway, and drove through a dry retention pond, before coming to a stop in her 2016 Dodge. Kovaka was transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon, IL for non-life threatening injuries she suffered due to the crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by Polo Fire Department, and the Polo Police Department. 

Sept. 19

At 5:01 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to 8163 S. Grist Mill Road in reference to a single-vehicle accident. After an investigation, Deputies learned Cherly Chojnacki, 50, of Mount Morris, failed to negotiate a curve and drove her 2004 Honda into the westbound ditch and struck a tree head-on. Chojnacki was transported to the Rochelle Hospital for minor injuries she suffered due to the crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by Rochelle Fire, Flagg Center Fire and Oregon Fire.  

Sept. 18

At approximately 9:18 p.m. Deputies performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Blackhawk Road and IL Rte. 64. After investigation, Deputies placed Adam Swanson, 50 of Byron under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Swanson was additionally issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. Swanson was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.  

At about 3:40 p.m., Deputies were advised of a possible reckless driver on Illinois Rte. 2 North of Grand Detour.  At about 3:50 hours, Deputies located the offending vehicle in Oregon and conducted a traffic stop.  After a short investigation Deputies arrested Samantha A. Bright, 45 of Rock Falls, for Driving While License Suspended and Attempted Obstruction of Justice.  Bright also received citations for No Insurance, and Improper Lane Use.  Bright was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.   

Sept. 17

At approximately 10:11 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 5000 block of W. IL RTE 72. After investigation, Deputies arrested Douglas Vargas, 28 of Tampa, Fla., for Driving While License Suspended. Barrett was also issued citations for Speeding 21-25 mph over the speed limit. Vargas received an I Bond with a return court date later next month. 

Sept. 15

At 7:33 a.m., The Ogle County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of E Rt 72.  After a brief investigation, Tyrell Taylor, 33, of Rockford was arrested for No Valid Driver's License, Improper turning at an intersection, speeding 75/55, and no insurance on the car.  He was transported to the Ogle County Jail.

Sept. 14

At approximately 10:40 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on I39 Mile Marker 97. After investigation, Deputies arrested Luna Barrett, 20 of Princeton for Driving While License Suspended. Barrett was also issued citations for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and an equipment violation. Barrett received an I Bond with a return court date later next month. 

At 2:16 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Rt. 251 at Rt. 72 for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Azaleia Ellis, 19 of Rockford was arrested for no valid driver’s license. Ellis was also cited for operating and uninsured motor vehicle, and no registration light. Ellis was released from the scene on a $2500 I-Bond.

Sept. 12

Ogle County Deputies investigated a motorcycle complaint in the 10,000 block of E. IL. Rte. 64. The motorcycle and driver were located at the intersection of E. IL. Rte. 64 and Meridian Rd.  The driver, 40 year old, Ryan S. Fox of DeKalb, was arrested for Driving While License Revoked. Fox was also arrested for a failure to appear warrant out of Dekalb County. Fox was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Sept. 11

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Deputies responded to a domestic problem at 126 Windward Lane in Hillcrest. Prior to arriving on scene the Communications Center advised the male half had left the residence. Shortly thereafter, Stephen Gadson, 32 of Hillcrest, was located at Casey's General Store on Powers Road. After further investigation Gadson was presumed to be under the influence. While taking Gadson into custody he resisted arrest. With the assistance of Rochelle Police Department, Gadson was taken into custody and transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for minor abrasions. Once medically cleared, Gadson was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs as well as resisting arrest.  Gadson was held in lieu of bond. 

At approximately 1 p.m., Deputies along with Byron Fire/EMS responded to a two vehicle accident in the 5000 block of N. River Road. After conducting an investigation, Renee Felts, 58 of Oregon, was discovered to be traveling southbound on River Road at a suspected high rate of speed. Felts struck the rear end of a vehicle turning in front of her and continued approximately 1300 feet south before crashing into a tree and coming to rest.  Renee was transported to Swedish American Hospital where she was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Felts was also issued citations for Failure to Reduce Speed, Improper lane usage, No Seat belt, and No Valid Insurance.  Felts was admitted to the Hospital and received an I-bond with a future court date.   

At approximately 10 p.m., Deputies assisted the Byron Police Department while attempting to stop a vehicle at the 700 block of Blackhawk Road in Byron.  The Chevrolet Impala was pursued for a short time before the vehicle crashed in the 9000 block of N Barker Road. After further investigation, Patrick Larson (age 21) of Rochelle, was arrested by Byron Police for multiple charges and was transported to the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.  Patrick was also cited for Improper Lane Usage, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. 

Sept. 10

At 5 a.m., Deputies responded to the report of a crash involving a car versus house. Upon conducting an investigation, Michael Schlenbecker, 18 of Rochelle, was placed under arrest and cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, No Valid Insurance, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid and Accident, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. Michael's car was towed from the scene and Michael was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Sept. 9

At 11:09 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 1st Street and Washington Street in Oregon on a 2016 Jeep Patriot. After a short investigation, Deputies arrested Laurrel Hayes, 53 of Rochelle, for driving while license suspended. Hayes was transported to the Ogle Co. Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Sept. 8

At approximately 11:49 a.m., Ogle County Deputies responded to a single vehicle roll over accident in the 8100 Blk of South Illinois Route 2.After an investigation it was learned that Christopher Coley, 33 of Oregon, was northbound on Route 2 when he crossed the center line and struck a guard rail, he then crossed then center line a second time and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then overturned and struck a parked car. The vehicle was removed by Big Jim's towing. Coley was transported the KSB Hospital by Dixon Rural EMS for non life threating injuries.
