Ogle County Sheriff 2-21-22

At 4:11 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 20,000 block of E. IL Rt. 64 for improper display of registration. After an investigation, Louis J. Wright II, 34 of Kansas City, MO was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Wright was also issued a citation for improper display of registration. Wright was released from the scene on a signature I-Bond with a return court date.

Jan. 16

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 2760 S. Brooke’s Island Road. Upon further investigation, Regina Tomayo, 54 from Texas, was arrested for Domestic Battery.  Regina was then transported to the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.​

At approximately 3:06 a.m., Ogle County Deputies and Byron EMS responded to the 10800 block of North Illinois Route 2 for a two-vehicle accident with injury. After further investigation, it was determined that a Ford Mustang driven by, Jason Eldon age 36 of Rockford, left the roadway and struck an embankment becoming disabled in the southbound lane. A Jeep SUV driven by, Amy King, 37 of Byron, was traveling southbound and struck the disabled Ford Mustang. King was released on scene by Byron EMS. Eldon was transported to a local hospital for a suspected minor injury. Eldon was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Improper Traffic Lane Usage. 

At approximately 10:03 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 19000 block of east Illinois Route 64. After further investigation, Fredrick Reynolds, 25 of Dekalb, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended. Reynolds was also cited for speeding and released on a Notice to Appear with a return court date.

Jan. 15

At 5:21 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in the 300 block of E South Park Drive in Byron. After an investigation Deputies arrested Diane Harrod, 53 of Byron, for Aggravated Domestic Battery. Diane Harrod was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Jan. 14

At 9:44 a.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of North Illinois Route 2.  After a short investigation, Deputies arrested Logan D. Smith, 30 of Rockford, IL for driving without a license. Smith was transported to Ogle County Jail.

At 1:53 a.m., Deputies responded to a juvenile disturbance at 204 Main Street, Chana. After an investigation a 10 year old juvenile was arrested for aggravated battery. The juvenile was released into the custody of his mother.

Jan. 10

At 8:51 a.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 5000 block of South Illinois Route 2. After a short investigation,  Deputies arrested Luna V. Barrett, 20 of Princeton, IL for driving without a valid driver's license. Barrett was transported to Ogle County Jail. 

At approximately 4:46 p.m., Ogle County Deputies were dispatched to a driving complaint of a white U-Haul truck traveling westbound on IL Rte 64 from Woodlawn Road. A short time later, it was reported the U-Haul struck a white Jeep causing injuries. After investigation, it was determined the Jeep, operated by Erik Desch 30 of Sycamore, was traveling eastbound on IL Rte 64 just east of Interstate 39. The U-Haul, operated by Chase Schott, 21 of Monroe Center, was traveling westbound on IL Rte 64, crossed over the center yellow line, and entered the eastbound lane.  The U-Haul then struck the Jeep on the driver’s side causing totaling damage and multiple airbag deployment for both vehicles. The Jeep continued eastbound and exited the roadway entering the south ditch and came to rest facing west.  The U-Haul continued into the south ditch and came to rest facing southwest approximately forty yards from the roadway.  Both Desch and Schott were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.  Schott was taken into custody and cited for DUI-Combination of Alcohol and Drugs.  Schott was also cited for Transporting Open Container of Alcohol, Improper Traffic Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  Schott was released on a $3000.00/10% individual bond with a return court date.  ​

Jan. 8

At approximately 1:54 a.m., Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of Columbine Rd and Townline Rd.  Upon investigation, it appeared a southbound vehicle being driven by Kevin Beard, 23 of Mt Morris, failed to yield as he approached the intersection.  The vehicle traveled through the intersection before striking a tree.  After further investigation, Deputies placed Beard under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Beard was also cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.  Beard was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.  Deputies were assisted at the scene by Forreston Fire/EMS.  The accident remains under investigation.

Jan. 7

At 7:04 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 2000 block of E. IL RTE 72. During the investigation, deputies arrested John W. Sherman, 44, of Rockford, IL for Driving on a Revoked License. Sherman was also issued citations for speeding 15-20 mph above the speed limit, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Sherman was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

At 9:12 p.m.., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted stop on I-39 in the area of mile marker 103 for failing to pull over for emergency vehicles (Scott’s Law Violation). After an investigation, Taylor Black, 23 of St. Louis, MO was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Taylor was also cited for failing to pull over for emergency vehicles. Taylor was released on a signature I-Bond with a return court date.

Jan. 5

At approximately 3:10 p.m. Deputies responded to a car in the ditch at the intersection of Conger Road and Plum Hill Road. After further investigation Paul Bush, 43 of Dixon, was arrested for No Valid Drivers License.  Paul was then released on an Individual Bond and was given a future court date.
