Ogle County Sheriff 4-8-19

At approximately 11:48 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Illinois Route 26 on a gray Jeep.  After an investigation Shawn McCarty, 42 of Urbana, was arrested for Driving on a Revoked License and Speeding. McCarty was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 3:59 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies, along with the Mt Morris Police Department and Mt. Morris Fire and EMS responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 4000 block of West Illinois Route 64.  After an investigation, it was learned that Hannah M Repass, 19 of Mt Morris, struck the rear of the vehicle that was in front of her. Repass refused all medical treatment and her vehicle was removed from the scene by Blake's Towing. The second vehicle was driven by Connie L. Blake, 69 of Mt Morris. Blake was transported to Rockford Memorial by Mt Morris EMS for minor injuries.

At approximately 8:13 p.m., Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 2000 block of North Freeport Rd. After further investigation Akin Rasa, age 43 of Ottumwa, IA, was placed under arrested for Driving While License Suspended and No Valid Driver's License. Rasa was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

The following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County Warrants:

Blake Bakkala, 19 of Machesney Park, for Failure to Appear. Bakkala posted the $50.00 full cash bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail with a return court date of 04/29/19 at 9 a.m.

Norma Delgado, 39 of Rockford, for Driving While License Suspended. Delgado posted the $3,000/10 percent bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail with a return court date of 04/26/19 at 9 a.m.

March 31

Ogle County Deputies conduced a traffic stop in the 20000 blk E IL Rte 64 for speeding. As a result of the stop Juan Sanchez-Mendez was arrested for No Valid Driver's License. He was also cited for speeding. Juan Sanchez-Mendez was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he will be held in lieu of bond.

March 30

The Ogle County Sheriff's Office concluded an investigation into several incidents of vandalism on River Road in the Byron area. On 03/30/19 Sheriff's Deputies took into custody two juveniles age 11 and 15 and then released them to their parents.

March 28

At 10:29 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 9000 block of Illinois Rt. 72 on a 2003 Ford Taurus. After a short investigation Deputies arrested Theresa Mclain, 31 of Rockford, for No Valid Driver's License and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mclain was also issued citations for No Insurance, Improper Lane Usage, and Possession of Cannabis. Mclain was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.

At 1:46 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Leaf River Road for a report of a physical domestic. After a short investigation deputies arrested Tyler Bunting, 28 of Leaf River, for Domestic Battery and Reckless Conduct. Bunting was transported to the Ogle County Correctional Center and held in lieu of bond.

At 8:46 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 20000 block of E. IL Rt. 64 for an equipment violation. After an investigatio , Jonathan Reyes, 19 of Elgin, was arrested for Driving with No Valid Driver's License. Reyes was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

March 27

The following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:
Carrie Bell, 41 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Bell has a bond of $350 full cash and will appear in court on 04/01/19 at 1 p.m.
Melvin Kutsch, 61 of Davenport IA., for Driving While License Revoked. Kutsch posted the $3,000/10 percent bond and will appear in court on 04/26/19 at 9 a.m.

March 25

The following were arrested for Ogle County Outstanding Warrants:

Christopher E. Rangel, 33, of Rochelle was arrested for Failure to Appear. Rangel appeared in court on 03/26/19 at 1 p.m. Rangel was given a $1,000 recog. Rangel will return to court on 04/29/19 at 9 a.m. Rangel was released from the Ogle County Jail.

Manuel F. Rivera, 23, of Rochelle was arrested for Operate Uninsured Vehicle warrant. Rivera had a bond of $2000/10 percent. Rivera did post the bond of $2000/10 percent. Rivera will return to court on 04/26/19 at 9:00am. Rivera was released from the Ogle County Jail.

March 24

Shelly Nelson, 45 of Rockford, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. Nelson posted the $10,000/10 percent bond and will appear in court on 04/12/19 at 9 a.m.

March 23

Leslie Nicolosi, 63 of Rockford, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant for Failure to Appear. Nicolosi was released on a $1,000 recognizance bond and will appear in court on 04/29/19 at 9 a.m.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 9000 block of West Town Line Road in reference to a two -vehicle accident. After an investigation, it was learned that Matthew Akins, 19 of Leaf River, had observed a vehicle in the oncoming lane. Akins attempted to avoid the vehicle, at which point the vehicle collided. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Haldane Towing. Akins was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. The driver of the second vehicle, Olayiwola Lawal-Obelawo, 40 of Mundelein, was transported to FHN Hospital by Forreston EMS for minor injuries.

March 22

At approximately 5:05 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of IL Rte. 251 and Lindenwood Road in rural Lindenwood, for the report of an accident with injuries. A blue 2009 Honda SUV was driving north on IL Rte. 251, attempting to turn right onto Lindenwood Road. A gray 2010 Dodge truck was also northbound on IL Rte. 251 following the Honda. Prior to the Honda completing its right turn, the Dodge truck drove onto the right shoulder of IL Rte. 251 striking the Honda. The Dodge truck then lost control and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane of IL Rte. 251. The driver of the Honda, Katrina Weir, 24, of Monroe Center, was not injured. The driver of the Dodge, William Doane, 71, of Davis Junction, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ogle County Coroner. Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police, Rochelle Fire Department and REACT helicopter. Accident remains under investigation.   

March 20

At approximately 10:45 p.m. deputies responded to the 7000 block of E. Grist Mill Rd for a one vehicle crash. After conducting an investigation, Glyde Wilson Jr., 40 of Rochelle was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled substance, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Cannabis 10-30grams. Wilson also received citations for Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed, and Driving on the Shoulder. Wilson was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
