May 12

At 12:21 p.m., Deputies along with Rochelle EMS responded to the intersection of Flagg Road and Skare Road for a two vehicle accident with injuries. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that a (17) year old driver and (15) year old passenger were travelling east on Flagg Road approaching the intersection of Skare Road in a BMW sedan. Thomas Price, 61 of Rochelle, was travelling south on Skare Road in a Subaru SUV and was stopped at the stop sign at Flagg Road. Price attempted to continue south on Skare Road, but failed to yield to the juvenile driver traveling on Flagg Road. A collision occurred in the intersection. Both drivers were transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for suspected minor injuries. Price was at fault and received a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.

May 11

At 9:21 p.m., Deputies responded to the area of Pines road and Ridge road for a report of a one vehicle crash.  After a short investigation Deputies arrested Brian A Rosenbalm, 39 of Leaf River for Aggravated DUI (3rd DUI), DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.  Rosenbalm also received citations for improper lane use, driving on the shoulder, and squealing tires.  Rosenbalm was transported to the Ogle Co Jail and held in lieu of bond. Deputies were assisted on scene by Mt. Morris Police and Oregon Fire. 

 

May 9

Ogle County Sheriff's deputies arrested Damoria Smith, 23 of Dekalb,  for driving while license suspended. Smith was arrested by deputies on Rte. 64 near Woodlawn Road after being stopped for speeding. smith was released on an I bond and will appear in Ogle County court at a later date.

 

May 8

At 3 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of W. Blackhawk Dr. in Byron. Upon further investigation, Heather Heathcott, 40 of Mount Morris, was charged for No Valid Driver's License and released on an Individual Bond. Heathcott was also given a warning for a registration violation and issued a return court date.

May 7

The OCSO deputies arrested Dawan Gordon, 33 of Battle Creek Michigan for driving while license suspended. Gordon was arrested by deputies on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. Gordon was held in lieu of bond.

 

At approximately 12:56 a.m., Deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Illinois Rt 72 and Adeline Rd. After further investigation Christopher Forney, 25 of Forreston, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Forney was also cited for Speeding, Improper Lane Usage, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and an Equipment Violation. Forney was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

 

May 6

At approximately 6:48 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies along with the Rochelle and Hillcrest Fire Departments responded to the report of a two vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of 251 and Bethel Road; north of the city of Rochelle. A white Chrysler van, driven by Ronald Hamilton, 72 of Rockford, was driving westbound on Bethel Road approaching the intersection of IL Rte. 251.  A blue Saturn passenger car, driven by Paula Groves, 49 of Rockford, was driving southbound on IL Rte. 251 approaching the intersection of Bethel Road. Hamilton failed to stop at the stop sign for traffic on IL Rte. 251 and struck Groves' car on the driver side. Both vehicles traveled off the west side of the roadway and came to rest  in the front yard of a private residence. Hamilton was extricated and transported to Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle Ambulance for treatment of serious injuries. Groves was extricated and transported to Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle Ambulance for treatment of critical injuries. Groves was subsequently flown to St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford by Life Flight for additional medical treatment. Hamilton was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign and the accident remains under investigation.

May 4

The Ogle County Sheriff's Office arrested Yushuwa Lukalula, 25 of Rockford for driving without a valid driver's license. Lukalula was arrested by deputies on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. Lukalula was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

 

At approximately 1:35 a.m., Ogle County Deputies were dispatched to the 8400 block of N. Pecatonica Rd in reference to a motorist assist. After investigation, Deputies arrested Donald Gary III, 22 of Rockford, for Obstructing Justice, Resisting a Peace Officer, and No Valid Driver's License. Gary III was also issued multiple equipment and traffic violations. Gary III was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released to correctional staff and held in lieu if bond.  

 

At approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop at Route 251 and Holcomb Road. Upon further investigation, the driver, Paublo Zapata, 41 of Rockford was charged for driving without a valid driver's license. Zapata was also cited for speeding, illegal transportation of open alcohol and other violations. Zapata was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

 

May 3

At approximately 6:08 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of W. Hitt St and N. Reynolds Ave in Mount Morris. After investigation, Deputies arrested Heather Loso, 27 of Oregon, for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Benzodiazepines). Loso was also issued a citation for an equipment violation. Loso was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released to correctional staff and held in lieu of bond.

May 2, 2021

At 6:15 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Rochelle EMS were dispatched to the area of Skare Rd. at Flagg Rd. for the report of a UTV rollover with injuries. After an investigation, it was determined the UTV was driven by one juvenile, who had 5 juvenile passengers. The juveniles were driving the UTV on private property, and overturned after trying to navigate a turn on a hill. Two male juvenile passengers were transported by Rochelle EMS to Rochelle Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The four other juveniles were not  injured. The incident occurred on private property and no citations were issued. .

 

At approximately 12:40 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at Mullberry Avenue and Center Street in Mount Morris.  Upon further investigation, the driver Ellis Kereven-Roby age 22 of Rockford was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while license suspended.  Kereven-Roby was additionally cited for Improper use of registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Kereven-Roby was transported to the Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

May 1

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies along with the Mount Morris Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident at IL Route 64 at Rock Rd. Upon completing an investigation, it was discovered Javier Maldonado and Marangely Diaz were traveling westbound on IL Route 64 in a grey Ford Edge. While attempting to turn northbound onto Rock Road their vehicle was struck from behind by a white GMC Acadia driven by Eric Callaway.  Diaz was transported by ambulance to KSB hospital to be treated for suspected minor injuries. Based upon evidence collected at the scene and witness statements, Callaway was determined to be at fault and subsequently cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

April 30

At approximately 10 p.m., Deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover in the 17000 block of W IL Route 52. After conducting an investigation, Devin Rogers, 29 of Dixon was charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.  Rogers was also issued citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid an accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Rogers was transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon where she was released on an I-bond and given a future court date.  Deputies were assisted at the scene by Polo Fire/EMS.
