July 11

At 12:38 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on W. Blackhawk Dr. at N. Colfax St. in the city of Byron for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Ray Smith, 54 of Leaf River was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Smith was transported to the Ogle County jail and held in lieu of bond. Smith was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, and driving with no lights when required.

July 10

At approximately 3:51 p.m. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Kennedy Hill Rd, just into Winnebago County. After further investigation Jamar Baker, 32 of Rockford, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Revoked.  Baker was also cited for Obstructed View. Baker was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

July 8

At approximately 3:35 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop near IL Rte. 2 and Townhall Road. After a brief investigation, Brianna Ogden, 18 of Rockford, was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License. Ogden was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond. Ogden was also cited for a registration violation and no insurance.

July 7

At approximately 4:12 p.m., the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Stillman Valley Fire Dept. and Linscott Rock Fire Dept. responded to the 7400 Block of N. Junction Rd., Davis Junction for the report of a one vehicle crash with injuries. It was later determined a pickup truck driven by Tobias Inman (M/W age 38 of Davis Junction) was n/b when it left the roadway and overturned several times coming to a rest in a corn field. Inman fled the scene into a corn field to which additional personnel was dispatched to the area to assist in locating Inman. Also responding to the scene was Ogle County K9 and Drone personnel as well as Flagg Center Fire Dept. and Byron Fire Dept. At approximately 7:14 p.m., Inman was located in the corn field just west of the crash scene and taken into custody. Inman was transported to OSF Hospital in Rockford by Stillman Valley Fire for injuries related to the crash. Inman was arrested and released at OSF for the following charges. Driving Under the Influence, Leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, Improper lane usage, Failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, failure to wear seatbelt and expired registration. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Maggio’s.

July 6

At 6:50 p.m., Deputies responded to Illinois Rte. 64 and White Rock road for a motorist assist.  After a short investigation Deputies arrested Marshall Heide, 29 of Ottawa, for driving while license suspended and unlawful possession of cannabis/improper container.  Heide also received citations for expired registration and no insurance.  Heide was transported to the Ogle Co Jail and held in lieu of bond.

July 5

At approximately 9:15 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of S. IL Rte 26. After investigation, Deputies arrested Cainon Canas, 24 of Rock Falls, for Driving While License Suspended. Canas was also issued citations for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and an equipment violation. Canas was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released to Correctional Staff and held in lieu of bond.

July 4

At approximately 11:53 p.m. Deputies responded to the island at 7084 N River Road in reference to a possible armed subject. After further investigation, Deputies arrested Jeremy Gabel, 45, for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Disorderly Conduct. Jeremy was transported to the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.

July 2

At approximately 6:09 p.m.s, Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Twombly Road and IL Rte 251. After a brief investigation, Deputies arrested Davis S. Fant, 41 of DeKalb, for Driving While License Suspended. David was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. David was also cited for Speeding 75 mph in a 55 mph speed zone and Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle

July 1

At 1:06 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of IL Rt. 251 at IL Rt. 64 for an equipment violation. After and investigation, Mapendo Nyaketchi, 24 of Rockford was arrested for no valid driver’s license. Mapendo was also cited for no registration light. Mapendo was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

June 30

At 2:04 p.m., Deputies responded to 406 S. Valley Drive in reference to a disturbance. After an investigation, Deputies arrested Mardell Harms, 71 of Stillman Valley for battery. Harms was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she is being held in lieu of bond.

At 8:51 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-88 at mile marker 77 west-bound on a 2000 VW for loud exhaust. After a short investigation Deputies arrested Ivan Lugo-Tellez, 39 0f Des Moines Iowa for no valid drivers license.  Ivan was also cited for loud muffler. Ivan was transported to the Ogle Co Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.  

At approximately 8:31 p.m. Deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Washington St and River Rd. After further investigation Brett Rawlings, 36 of Sheffield, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. Rawlings was released on an individual bond  

June 29

At 2:54 p.m., the Ogle County Sheriffs Dept responded to the intersection of Ashelford Dr and N IL RT 2 in rural Byron to a report of an accident involving injuries. Two cars were reported to be involved.  Upon arrival, it was determined that a car driven by 18 year old Elizabeth Hinshaw of Oregon struck the rear of a stopped car driven by 84 year old Robert Koritz of Byron. Robert Koritz and his wife, Joyce, 82, were not injured.  The only passenger in Hinshaw's car was Whitney Kirk, 18 of Oregon. Both Hinshaw and Kirk were transported to Swedish American Hospital for minor injuries. The Byron Police Dept, The Byron Fire Protection Distict, and D & W Towing assisted at the scene of the crash. The investigation is on going.
