Aug. 28

At approximately 2:18 a.m. Ogle County Deputies responded to the report of a one vehicle motorcycle accident with injuries located in the 3000 block of N. Mulford Rd. A passerby driving through the area observed a motorcycle on its side in the east ditch and then called 911 to report the accident.  Monroe Center Fire Department/Ambulance, Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department/Ambulance, Stillman Valley Ambulance, and Life Flight helicopter were all dispatched to the scene. After an on-scene investigation it was learned that a gray 2017 Victory motorcycle, driven by 32 year old Andrew J. Smith of Creston, was southbound in the 3000 block of N. Mulford Rd.  While southbound on Mulford Rd. the motorcycle drove in to the northbound lane and then left the roadway in the east ditch while approaching a curve. Smith was ejected from the motorcycle in the east ditch. Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ogle County Coroner was called to the scene and took possession of the body. Maggio's towing was contacted and removed the motorcycle from the scene. This accident remains under investigation.

Aug. 27

At approximately 10:36 p.m., deputies along with Byron and Stillman Valley Fire Departments responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the area of 7600 E. Hales Corner. Investigation by deputies revealed that a Toyota 4Runner driven by 17 year old male was traveling east on Hales Corner. The driver left the roadway and overcorrected before overturning in the south ditch. The driver was examined and released on scene for suspected minor injuries. The driver was cited for improper lane usage and the vehicle was removed by Nielsen's Towing.

 

Aug. 26

At 3:41 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on W. Blackhawk Dr. at S. Union St. in Byron for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Jake Wyatt, 23 of Rochelle was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Wyatt was also issued citations for no registration light, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Wyatt was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

 

Aug. 25

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dorian Bizzle, 19 of Mount Pleasant Wisconsin for driving while license suspended. Bizzle was arrested by deputies on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. Bizzle was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Correctional Center.

Aug. 24

Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 17 year old male juvenile from Rockford, Il. for driving with no license. The juvenile was arrested by deputies on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding 101 MPH. The juvenile was issued an Ibond and released to his parents. He will appear in Ogle County court at a later date.  

At approximately 11:20 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Sam’s Drive In in Byron for illegal window tint. After a brief investigation, Shykierah Taylor, 23 of Rockford, was placed under arrest for No Valid Driver’s License. Taylor was also cited for illegal window tint and expired registration. Taylor was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond. 

At approximately 8 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Wilson St. and Pine St.  in Stillman Valley. After a brief investigation, Kaylie Barber, 32, of Stillman Valley, was placed under arrest for Driving while License Revoked. Barber was also cited for no insurance. Barber was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond. 

Aug. 22

At 5:15 p.m.., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of S. Daysville Rd. for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Veronica Tabares, 35 of Sterling, IL was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Tabares was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no front license plate, and improper use of registration. Tabares was released on a $2500 I-Bond.

Aug. 21

At approximately 7:27 p.m. Deputies and the Byron Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident in the 10000 block of North Illinois Rt 2.  An preliminary investigation determined a southbound vehicle driven by Sandra Koutlemanis, 51 of Des Plaines, traveled off the west edge of the roadway.  The vehicle then overcorrected and entered the east ditch where it traveled down a small embankment before coming to a rest.  Koutlemanis was transported to Swedish American Hospital by Byron Fire/EMS for treatment of minor injuries.  The accident remains under investigation.

At 12:24 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies and Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS were dispatched to N. Walnut St. at W. 2nd St. in Lindenwood for vehicle pulled over on the side of the road, and the male driver, later identifier as Gary Brenton, 33 of Woodstock, experiencing a medical emergency. Brenton was checked by EMS and signed a refusal. After an investigation, Brenton was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating compounds (drugs/alcohol), possession of controlled substance 15-100 grams (heroin) possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams (heroin). Brenton was also issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Brenton was transported to the Ogle County Jail until his appearance before a judge.

Aug. 18

At 5:32 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office along with the Rochelle and Flagg Center Fire Departments responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries at Flagg Road and Beebe Drive. Investigation by Deputies revealed that a Chevrolet SUV driven by Katie Harper, 33 of Rochelle had stopped on Flagg Road behind another vehicle which was turning left onto Beebe Drive.  At that time a Toyota Camry driven by a 16 year old female failed to see the stopped vehicles and as a result ran into the rear of the Chevrolet. The 16 year old was transported by Rochelle Fire Dept. Ambulance to Rochelle Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. the 16 year old was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed.

Aug. 16

At approximately 3:18 p.m. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the south exit ramp of I-39 and IL Rte. 72. After an investigation, Deputies arrested Leton Dye, 31 of Chicago for driving while license suspended.  Dye was additionally issued a citation for speeding. Dye was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.

Aug. 14

At approximately 1:26 a.m. Deputies initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Blackhawk and Walnut in Byron. After further investigation Deputies arrested Stephen Mullane, 33 of Poplar Grove, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Stephen was also cited for Improper Lane Usage and Unlawful Transportation of Alcohol. Stephen was transported to the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident in the 4,800 block of E. Illinois Rte. 72.  After an investigation it was determined that a 2008 Triumph motorcycle being driven by Jason M. Gibbs, 45 of Lake Villa Il., was westbound on Rte. 72 when he failed to negotiate the curve at that location and exited the roadway into the north side ditch.  No other vehicles were involved and Gibbs was transported to Swedish American Hospital in Rockford for injuries sustained.  At the time of this release the medical condition of Gibbs is not known. 

Aug. 13

At approximately 4 p.m., Deputies with the assistance of the Illinois State Police and Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire/EMS responded to I-39 at IL Route 64 for the report of a single vehicle crash with injuries.  After conducting an investigation, it was learned Larry Monette, 73 of Arkansas, was traveling south on I-39 exiting onto IL Route 64 when Monette presumably fell asleep.  Monette traveled off of the exit ramp and came to rest after colliding with several pine trees.  Monette was assisted from the vehicle by a passing motorist as his car became fully engulfed. Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire and EMS responded to the scene where they tended to the fire as Monette was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital where he was treated for suspected injuries.
