Oregon boys bowling wins second regional in school history

In the culmination of a crazy week which saw Oregon set its two highest match series of the season, its lowest score at Harvard and after losing two starters to injury, the Hawks boys bowling team won only the second IHSA Regional in school history Jan. 14 at Plum Hollow Family Center, Dixon. 

DIXON — In the culmination of a crazy week which saw Oregon set its two highest match series of the season, its lowest score at Harvard and after losing two starters to injury, the Hawks boys bowling team won only the second IHSA Regional in school history Jan. 14 at Plum Hollow Family Center, Dixon. Oregon finished with a six-game total of 5,830, 48 pins ahead of Freeport. Individually all five bowlers finished in the top 25 led by Regional Medalist Roberto Hernandez with a 1,247 series (196,244,185,201,222,199).  Hernandez becomes only the fifth IHSA Boys Regional medalist in program history. Also finishing in the top 10 was Bryan Immel with a 1231 series while recording the second highest game of the tournament with a 258 in the second game.  Next was Brandon Rowe’s 1133 series (18th place), Matthew Stahl’s 1118 series (22nd place) and Stylar Long’s 1101 series (25th place). The team now advanced to the Rockford Guilford sectional next Saturday at Don Carter Lanes, Rockford.
