Oregon farmer's market every Saturday

Posted

OREGON – Buy Local and buy fresh at the Oregon Farmers Market on Saturday mornings between 8:30 a.m. and noon on the Ogle County Courthouse Lawn.

There are a variety of vendors selling everything from produce and food to flowers and plants.

Jen’s Artisan Breads booth is a must for those who visit the market regularly. Jen’s healthy loaves of bread are bursting with flavor and a local favorite.  The variety of flavors offered are so popular that they are carried and or used by several local businesses, are sold at several Farmers’ Markets and Jen Koertner, who resides in Mount Morris with her husband and two daughters, also has a bake shop in Mount Morris at the Pinecrest Grove community building.

Koertner has always loved to bake. She fell in love with breads she found in Europe while serving in the U.S. Army. After her service, she wanted to create her own perfect bread and start her own business, which she has done with great success. After tweaking recipes and trial and error in the kitchen, this local artisan has mastered delicious loaves with a crusty exterior and chewy crumb center. She also bakes some other yummy goodies which can be found at the Market.

If you stop at the Oregon market, you’ll likely see Sarah Meacham. She bakes with Koertner and sells at the markets. Meacham’s involvement began with her buying a loaf of bread at the Oregon market years ago, following Koertner on facebook, building a friendship and the rest is history.  These ladies are the Purveyor of Yum. When you are hungry for a taste adventure, your new favorite artisan bread awaits at the Oregon Farmers Market.
