Paul William Maas

CHANA – Paul William Maas, age 99, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford following a sudden illness. He was born July 26, 1917 near Davis Junction the son of William and Hilka (Lewis) Maas.
He attended Slagle and Beach Country Schools. He married Hazel M. Fraley on June 21, 1941 at the Elim Reformed Church near Kings. Paul was a farmer at heart. He loved his family and his animals.  When he was younger he loved to play softball and horseshoes. He was a lifelong member of the Elim Reformed Church where he served on the consistory as an Elder and Deacon.
He was predeceased by his wife Hazel, grandson Michael Maas, brother William Maas, and sister Florence Fruin.
He is survived by his children Robert (Janice) Maas of Chana and Diane (Michael) Reintz of Lindenwood, 4 grandchildren; Bradley D. (Donna) Bonne of Paw Paw, Beth D. Bonne of Kings, Dean A. (Selena) Bonne of Compton, and Deb Maas of Stillman Valley, 2 great grandchildren Ada and Henry Haner, and 3 Step great grandchildren.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Elim Reformed Church near Kings with the Rev. Cary Winn pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Thursday evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley. Burial in the White Rock Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Elim Reformed Church.
