Power Up volleyball adding K-5 program, boys club

OREGON — The youth volleyball program will focus on skill development and scrimmage time in a fun atmosphere. All drills, nets, and volleyballs have been designed to fit younger age groups. The Kindergarten-fifth grade program is open to boys and girls and will be divided into a third - fifth grade age group and Kindergarten-second age group. Both youth programs start Sept. 5 and run for five weeks on Sept. 6, 13, 20, Oct. 6 and 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. (third - fifth) and 6-7 p.m. (Kindergarten -second).  
All practices and scrimmages take place at the Blackhawk Center.  The third - fifth graders will have an opportunity on two of the dates to compete in two tournaments hosted at the Blackhawk Center when another program from Genoa-Kingston will come to play matches. Kindergarten -second grade will scrimmage members of the Power Up program in each practice. The deadline for registration is Sept. 1. For more details and to register, please visit www.powerupvb.com.
Boys volleyball is gaining popularity in the area and across the country. In order to help grow the sport in our area, Power Up will be adding a boys indoor volleyball club in addition to the already existing girls indoor club that will be entering its seventh year. Boys will have an option to compete in local and national tournaments. Currently, Power Up is gathering interest level for the club. The season will start in November or December, and we are looking to form a junior high aged team and a high school aged team.
