Raymond G. Cain, 84, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019.

Ray was born in Nokomis, Ill., on May 11, 1935, son of Ida (Howell) and William Cain.He attended and graduated Leaf River School in 1953. Ray married Shirley Buhs in 1956 and they had 6 children together. He later married Patsy Chambers. She passed away in 2000. Ray farmed in Mt. Morris for many years. He worked at Twin Disc for 23 years and was president of #765 UAW. Ray owned and operated the Image Bar & Grill, retiring in 2007. He belonged to the Shriners and the Masons.

Surviving relatives include his children, Gary (June) Cain, Tom (Maureen) Cain both of Pecatonica, Mike (Linda) Cain of Mount Morris, Jean (John) Springer of Polo and Julie (Terry) Crum of Brodhead, Wis.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Arlene Welsh.

He is predeceased by his parents, daughter, Joyce Stauffer; brother, Norman and sister, Bonnie.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of St. Anne’s Center and Heartland Hospice for all their kindness, care and compassion.

A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children and Heartland Hospice.
