OREGON – Robert Gibson Drucks, age 84, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born Dec. 6, 1934 in Chicago Heights, the son of Eric and Persis “Peggy” (Gibson) Drucks. 

2He graduated from Grant Community High School in 1953. After graduating he served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1953 – 1978 at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center where he taught Machine Repair as a First Class Petty officer. He married Karen “Vinna” Petersen on May 2, 1954 in Fox Lake. She preceded him in 2004. Robert worked for John’s Mansville Company in Waukegan as a machinist for 45 years. He enjoyed target shooting, traveling to the Upper Peninsula every year to see the fall colors, spending time with his grandchildren, going to the gun shop and the sunrise restaurant to see and be with his friends. He was a former member of the Twin Towers Gun Club. 

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Vinna, and his sister Barbara Severs. 

He is survived by his two sons; Eric Robert (Kelly) Drucks of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Kenneth (Susan) Drucks of Oregon, six grandchildren; Nicholas, Michael, and Matthew Drucks, Amy (Derek) Roche, Rachel (Tim) White, and Emily (Michael) Looney, and three great grandchildren; Russell, Rory, and Winnie.  

A memorial service was held 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon. Visitation was held at the funeral home from noon-1 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be at the Daysville Cemetery near Oregon. A memorial fund is established for Autism Research.
