LEAF RIVER – Robert Kenneth Kretsinger, age 91, of Leaf River, passed away on Sept. 11, 2021 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Robert “Bob Kret” and his twin brother Richard were born on June 11, 1930 to Kenneth and Jessie (Nichols) Kretsinager in Leaf River.

After Robert graduated from Leaf River High School in 1948, he began working at Kable Printing in Mt. Morris. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1950 until 1953 where he served as a Buck Sergeant in the Korean War. During his time of service, he earned the United Nations Korean Service Medal and a Purple Heart. After leaving the service, he returned to Kable Printing as a supervisor until retirement in 1990. After retiring he worked as a crossing guard for the Leaf River Grade School. He was a member of the Leaf River American Legion and the V.F.W. Robert enjoyed fishing in Canada with friends and horse racing.

He is survived by his twin brother, Richard (Connie) Kretsinger and brother Kenneth (Jeannie) Kretsinger; several nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Jessie, his brothers and sisters, Millard (Alice), Merritt, Wayne (Diana), Donald, Kathleen (Robert) Zellers, and Kay (Melvin) McGill, and nieces Peggy Kretsinger and Marina Spitzer, and his beloved dogs Sport, Sergeant, and Doc.

Visitation was held for Robert from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron. Masks were required when inside the funeral home during the visitation. A military graveside service was held at noon at Silver Creek Cemetery in Mt. Morris.
