OREGON – Ronald Edward Horn, age 59, of Oregon, passed away at home on Oct. 1, 2021.  He was born in Rochelle on Sept. 12, 1962, and lived in Ashton until moving to Oregon at the age of 8. He graduated from Oregon High School in 1980.

Ron began his career at Exelon's Byron Nuclear Station as a contractor, then transitioned to Exelon's Quality Verification Department. Over the course of 30 years, he attained numerous professional credentials, ultimately serving as Supervisory Quality Verification Inspector and overseeing the Byron Station's Quality Verification Department.

Although he had a successful career with Exelon, Ron proudly considered himself a farmer. He learned from the best...his grandfather...and was happiest on the tractor working the family farm.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Bryanna Hirsch (Matt) of Reno, Nev., and Ashlyn Wolf (Joe), of Oregon; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Wyatt Wolf; two sisters, Donelle Ward of Chicago, and Deena Smith (Mark) of Wann, Okla.; two nieces, Jessica (Smith) Arnold and Jenna Ward-Pawlitz (Jeff).

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Joyce Horn.

Friends gathered to remember and celebrate Ron from 4-7 p.m, on Friday, Oct. 8 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. Private family graveside services and burial in the Ashton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established for the Life Line Food Pantry in Oregon. Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence or memory of Ron.
