STILLMAN VALLEY – Stillman Valley High School is proud to announce the recipients of the 2016-2017 Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution Awards.
The winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) award is Stephanie Anderson, and the winner of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) award is Samuel Winter.
Each year the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution honors one male and one female from each of the 50 states who represent the qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism. The purpose of the award is to pay tribute to youthful character and to call attention to those qualities that are desirable in good citizens.
“Both Stephanie and Samuel exhibit the honorable qualities desired for this award,” said Trisha McKendry, school counselor at SVHS. “They are students with integrity, honesty, and reliability.”
The recipients were first nominated by the teachers and staff at SVHS, and then the senior class voted on the top four males and females. The nominees for the DAR award were Stephanie Anderson, Carah Johnson, Hannah King, and Katherine Winter. The nominees for the SAR award were Nathan Hunt, Jared Van Vleet, Andrew Wilhite, and Samuel Winter. Congratulations to Stephanie, Samuel, and all nominees on this honor.
