Sharon A. Vant

OREGON – Sharon A. Vant, age 78, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at the Serenity Hospice and Home near Oregon. She was born May 4, 1940 in Durand, the daughter of Bernard and Chriean (McGrew) Metras. 

She graduated from West High School in Rockford. Sharon married Charles Vant on June 6, 1959 in Rockford. She was an active member of the Rochelle Baptist Church. She served as an election judge for Rockvale Township. 

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles, and brother Jerry. 

She is survived by her 3 children; Greg (Cindy) Vant of Mount Morris, Julie (John) Sword of Lanark, and Doug (Tonya) of Belvidere, 6 brothers; Clay (Johnny) Metras, Charles (Pam) Metras, James (Karen) Metras, Edward Metras, Richard (Mary) Metras, and Mike Metras, 1 sister Bev Widrig, 14 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. 

Funeral service was 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Rochelle with the Rev. Douglas Cowan pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL.  Burial will be in the Daysville Cemetery.
