STILLMAN VALLEY – What does the future hold? Who is going to lead us? Where will they get their leadership training?

FBLA students from Stillman Valley High School were among students from all over Illinois who took part in the 42nd annual Summer Leadership Workshop for Future Business Leaders of America at the Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield, July 28-30. FBLA is dedicated to providing students with the skills necessary to lead them into the future. The theme of the workshop was “Create. Lead. Inspire.”

Patty Hendrickson, Certified Speaking Professional from La Crosse, Wis., Linda Walker from Springfield, Stephen Diol from Wauconda and Sandra Bronson, Illinois FBLA sate adviser from Decatur, helped students strengthen their leadership skills, practice team building and develop characteristics valuable in the world of work. Workshops included information on the benefits of being an FBLA member, running for office, etiquette, competitive events and much more.

“We made many great connections with other leaders and shared a lot of ideas,” said Misael Guerrero, SVHS FBLA president.

Networking between members was an important theme in the workshop.

FBLA Chapters were able to plan their upcoming FBLA events by creating a program of work. SVHS students who participated in the workshops were Misael Guerrero, FBLA President, Nicole Bredeson, FBLA Vice President, Annabell Martinez, FBLA Secretary, Elizabeth Oltmanns and Tyler Kubiszewski. Advisers in attendance were Mrs. Tammy Pierson and Ms. Cathie Murphy.
