Susan Martha Nordman

OREGON – Susan Martha Nordman passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 85 at Pinecrest Terrace Nursing Home in Mt. Morris, surrounded by loving family members. She was born Dec. 24, 1936 in Byron, the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Moats) McNames. She attended Byron Public Schools. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Susan had numerous jobs in her young life. She had many friends that she held dear to all her life.  She met the love of her life, Henry Nordman, from Oregon. They married March 23, 1952 San Marcus, Texas. After leaving the service they settled in Byron, Stillman Valley, Mt. Morris and finally Oregon area where they started their family. Sue loved to garden in her younger years including vegetables for the winter and flowers for spring and summer. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon and the Red Hat Ladies. Susan loved baking all kinds of goodies for her family and church gatherings. She loved to play card games and Joker on Mondays with her friends from Byron and any other time someone would play. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Lilllian McNames, husband Henry Nordman; sisters Ava and Ida McNames, Mary (Jeff) Jefferies, Wilma (Bruce) Seymour; brother Robert (Blanche) McNames;  grandson Joey Nordman and great-grandson Sebastian Francis Robert Poquette. 

She is survived by her daughter Donna (Dale) Poquette of Dixon; sons Williams (Patricia) Nordman of Oregon, and Joseph Nordman of Beloit, Wis.; grandchildren Josh (Abby) Smith of Sycamore, Nick Nordman of Wilmington, N.C., Jonathan (Kelly) Poquette of Elon, N.C., Ashley Nordman (Coleman Beckerle) of O’Fallon, Mo., and Bradley Nordman (Nel) of Oregon; great-grandkids Carter Barringer, Darley Barringer, Briar Rose of Sycamore, and Everlee Jean Beckerle of O’Fallon, Mo., and many nieces and nephews whom love her and she loved.

Funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon, with the Rev. Carl Rasmussen and the Rev. Rodney Caldwell Co-officiating. Visitation was 1 hour prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial took place at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Paynes Point. A memorial fund is established in Susan Nordman’s name. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon is assisting the family with arrangements.
