The Stillman Valley High School Environmental Club has been actively collecting and recycling soft plastic for three years. Last year, they won a nationwide competition between 608 schools of similar size by collecting 1,955 pounds of plastic. The award was a recycled plastic bench for the school grounds. This year instead of a competition, TREX, the company that sponsors the recycling efforts, decided to just have a set goal of 1,000 pounds to be collected to earn a bench. After collecting the 1,000 pounds needed the SVHS Environmental Club has now earned a third recycled bench for their school.  Recycling efforts will continue throughout the year and be added to the total to earn yet another bench for next year.
