POLO – For food lovers, there is nothing quite like “What’s Cookin.”

The annual event, a fundraiser for Rock River Center in Oregon, is set for April 13 at Barnacopia, 2570 N West Branch Rd, Polo, from 5-8 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and are available at Rock River Center and at the door at Barnacopia. Anyone who has been to What’s Cookin knows it is a popular event – last year more than 500 people attended. So, in order to be fair to everyone attending, as well all the vendors, the front doors will open at precisely 5 p.m.

What’s Cookin will feature a variety of team’s competing in the categories Appetizers, Main Dish, Side Dish, Desserts and Junior Chef.

For the Junior Chefs, they can make food in any of the other food categories. They will be judged as their own category with their own trophy and will also be included in the overall judging for People’s Choice trophy.

Three celebrity judges – Andy Colbert, Aaron Wilson and Marilyn Csernus – will be judging throughout the event before selecting the winners. The People’s Choice Award will be awarded by popular vote of those in attendance.

There will also be a 50/50 drawing at the event, and some vendors will also have items for sale. And before or after eating, people are encouraged to wander the museum at Barnacopia.

All of the proceeds from What’s Cookin go to fund resources, activities, and services that improve the quality of life for Ogle County’s older adults, the disadvantaged, caregivers, and the greater community.
