STILLMAN VALLEY – William Vernon "Will" Schaefer, 23, a Stillman Valley resident since the 6th grade (2008), died Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 in his home.

Will suffered from anxiety and depression, but was an intelligent, observant, stubborn but kind and caring young man. Although he was often shy and awkward in public, his passions were humanity, music and humor – everything from the wry and witty to wordless slapstick, movies and improvisations.

Born May 28, 1995 in Rockford, the adopted son of Charles and Carol (Stenoien) Schaefer. Will was a graduate of Stillman Valley High School, where he was in the band, and employed at Seal-Rite Door Company in Rockford.

Survived by his parents, Charlie and Carol Schaefer of Stillman Valley; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Borghild Stenoien of Woodstock; sister, Alexandra Schaefer; brothers, Roysten "Nicky Roy" Schaefer and David Schaefer; and sister-in-law, Heather Schaefer and her children, Kadence and Silas.

Predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Rose Schaefer.

A Private Memorial Service will be held. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom for heaven." (Matt. 5:3) Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Stillman Valley assisted the family.
