Chicago-based classic rock & roll band, the Rockin' Fenderskirts, return to play a free concert on the campus bandshell for the third show of the Mt. Morris Jamboree on June 21 from 7-9 p.m.

Musicians performed and visitors persevered through the rain to enjoy free live music in the Village of Mt. Morris at the Seventh Annual Encore! PorchFest Saturday, June 8.

The Mt. Morris Jamboree is excited to announce the debut performance of Chicago entertainers, Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones on our band shell on Friday June 14, from 7-9 p.m.

The Oregon Woman's Club has presented three books to the Oregon Public Library in honor of the group's past president, Fran Strouse, who passed away earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.

The First Fridays Open Mic presents its monthly show at the Oregon VFW this June 7. The event attracts many talented performers, but musicians and singers of all skill levels find acceptance from its supportive audience.

Brass From The Past "Rock & Soul Revue" A Tribute to the Legends of Rock & Soul make their long awaited return to perform from 7-9 p.m. on the Mt. Morris Bandshell on June 7, opening the 12th annual season of free concerts on the campus.

The Seventh Annual Encore! PorchFest Mt. Morris is Saturday, June 8. PorchFest is the ultimate grassroots community music festival. Many favorites from past years, along with some new musicians will perform 45-minute sets on community porches and lawns throughout the festival area between 1-5 p.m.

The William and Beverly Burkardt Family Foundation recently awarded 10 scholarships on May 8.

Oregon Elementary School May 2024 Students of the Month were recently named.

On March 5, the Polo Lions Club held Farmers Night. The speaker that night was Jay Kempel, the general manager of Stephenson Service Company. The Lions Club asked their speakers what charity or organization they would like the club to donate to. Jay said he would like the donation to be made to the Polo FFA. Jay came down on Wednesday, May 22 to make the donation.

The Stillman Valley High School math team won the Big Northern Conference math competition that was held on May 3 at Sauk Valley College.

The Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department in Lindenwood is holding its 71st Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser on Friday, June 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Lindenwood Fire Station (15940 E. Lindenwood Road, Lindenwood).

Patrick Fegan American Legion Post #83 (Polo) Post Commander Cynthia Reynolds recently awarded The Military Commitment Certificate of Commendation to two Polo Community High School students. Both have chosen to selflessly serve in the military. Nathaniel Yingling will be serving with the U.S. Marines, and Sydnei Rahn has been accepted into the Navy ROTC program at Jacksonville University. 

The Roberts Armory World War II Museum will be open to the public on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 from 1-4 p.m.

Serenity Hospice & Home has been named a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of CAHPS and bereavement survey programs for home health and hospice agencies.

Stillman Valley Lions Club presented scholarships to two students at Stillman Valley High school on May 1. Lions member Al Unger presented $750 awards to Anna Bradle and Braden Rogers.

Allissa Marschang, a senior at Polo Community High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter DW of Polo.

In 4-H, learning about horses means much more than learning to ride. Young people passionate about horses participated in recent statewide educational contests related to the equine industry. 4-H’s educational programs enhance members’ knowledge of horse health, breed characteristics, management, and feeding. That knowledge and skills were tested during the State 4-H Hippology Contest held on April 13 on the University of Illinois campus.

Ogle County Horse Bowl Team members include Adalyn Bocker, Addison Diehl, Kenzie Hongsermeier, Lily Hongsermeier, and Addison Yordy. The coaches for the team include Elizabeth Stauffer, Erica Bocker, and Jeanie Yordy.  

Bob Diven, is a long-time Las Cruces, New Mexico artist, actor, singer, composer, author and sculptor who returns to his childhood home this month of May. He will be the featured speaker at the Oregon Depot Museum Saturday, May 25. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the presentation will be at 10 a.m.
