BYRON — Alvin Duane Oltmanns, 88, of Byron, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, in Rockford. Born May 30, 1936, in Oregon, IL, the son of Emmo F. and Jessie G. (Claussen) Oltmanns. Alvin married LaVonne Duitsman on May 6, 1984, in Rockton she predeceased him on November 24, 2008. He was a farmer in Ogle County all of his life. Alvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 and served in Korea. He was an active member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, in Oregon and the Ogle County Farm Bureau.
Alvin is lovingly survived by his children, Judy Hagemann of Mt Morris and Jill (Frank) Smice of Leaf River; grandchildren, Bryant and Bryce Hagemann, and T. J., Tyler and Torey Smice; special friend and companion for many years, Betty Jo Bussie; nephew, Brad (Chris) Weller of Mt Morris; and niece, Cynthia (James) Chapman of Monroe, Wi. He was also predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Pauline Weller and Valdene Snodgrass.
Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Ebenezer Reformed Church, 2997 N. German Church Road, Oregon, IL 61061, with Pastor Josiah Youngquist, officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Reformed Church, 2997 N. German Church Road, Oregon, IL 61061.
