Late in the morning of Friday, Feb. 14, area fire departments responded to a detached garage fire at 7483 E. Husking Peg Road in a rural area between Rochelle and Chana. The fire reached the second-alarm level and involved a trailer as well. Fire departments were first called at 11:28 a.m. At 11:32 a.m. the fire was elevated to the box alarm level and at 11:38 a.m. the second alarm level was reached to call in more fire personnel. Fire crews fought to extinguish the fire before crews started to be released at 12:30 p.m.. Area fire organizations called to the scene included Oregon, Ashton, Rochelle, Stillman, Lynn-Scott-Rock, Franklin Grove, Mt. Morris, Flagg Center, Byron and Polo. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and the Ogle County Emergency Management Agency responded as well.
