BYRON — Bert Himes, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He lived a full life and touched the lives of many people along the way.
Bert spent his childhood in Oregon, IL caddying at Oregon Golf Course at a young age. In the winters, Bert set pins at the Oregon Bowling Alley. Bert then spent his career at Chrysler Corp for 31 years. In retirement, Bert’s happiness was mowing lawns for his ladies. He grew to love each one; and they know who they are!!
Bert married the love of his life, Judy Blake Wolfe at Chapel of the Bells, Las Vegas, NV. They celebrated their 40th anniversary March 2nd of this year. During this time, Bert was a member of Bel Mar Country Club, Belvidere, IL (1986-1997) where he proudly won first place in many tournaments. Bert’s excellent golf skills were recognized when he was chosen as the first ever freshman placed on the varsity team.
In retirement, Bert and Judy enjoyed sixteen years at their winter home in Texas. His other pleasures were fishing, and sharing his garden tomatoes with family and friends.
Bert is survived by his adoring wife: Judy, children: Jim Himes, Mike Himes, Sherri Possehl, and Dean Wolfe, 4 grandchildren: Alex, Cody, Katlyn Possehl, and Tiffany Ingersoll; 5 great grandchildren, and sister: Garida Cox.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents: Albert & Pearl Himes, sisters: Bernice Hitchcox and Nancy Schumacher, brother: Jim Himes, and grandchild: Jesse Possehl.
