Byron Knights of Columbus donates to Serenity

BYRON - On Tuesday, July 2 The Knights of Columbus of Byron #4739 presented Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon a check for $8,000 which came from the profit and donations from their six weekly Lenten fish frys which are held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Byron.  The Knights served over 2,200 meals from people from all over Northern Illinois.  The Fish Fry chairman is Roy Lorenz and he is blessed with a great supportive council.  In 2023 they presented Serenity house with $5,000 and were able to up it this year.  

Meals served 2,213, 1,650 fish, 550 potatoes, 285 sweet potatp fries, 360 French fries, 340 cabbage mix, 13 gallons of dressing, 81 gallons of chowder, 500 pounds of mac and cheese, 80 dozen dinner rolls, and 2,040 fish tacos.
