Mother’s Day Wildflower Walk at the Nardi Equine Prairie Preserve

The Byron Forest Preserve district will be offering a free Mother’s Day Wildflower walk at their Nardi Equine Prairie Preserve on Sunday, May 12 starting at 1 p.m. 

Participants should meet at the Nardi Preserve parking lot, 6651 North River Road in Byron. This restored 525 acres prairie preserve has an abundance of spring prairie flowers that grow in sandy soil. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Jarrett Prairie Center Murder in the Museum Mystery Dinner

Back by popular demand, the Byron Forest Preserve District will host a new custom Murder in the Museum Mystery Dinner at their Jarrett Prairie Center Museum on Friday, June 14 from 6-9:30 p.m. Join the cast of the Northern Illinois Players Troup as they investigate a murder that occurs during a wedding reception held at the Jarrett Prairie Center Museum. 

This program is for ages 12 and up. The cost is $35 per person that includes a buffet dinner. There will also be a cash bar. Guests will be arranged at round tables of eight people. Advance registration is required by Tuesday, June 11 as seating is limited. Guests are encouraged to dress as if they were attending a wedding reception.
