DIXON — The Stillman Valley High School varsity girls basketball team defeated Byron 45-40 to claim the championship during the 2024 KSB Dixon Holiday Classic from Dec. 26-28. Stillman Valley opened the tournament with a 69-24 win over Rockford Jefferson and a 74-66 win over Moline during the quarterfinals.
Stillman Valley continued its run with a 47-37 win over Sterling in the semifinals before taking down Byron in the finals on Saturday, Dec. 28 for the title. The Cardinals, who moved to a perfect 15-0 on the season with the tournament victory, also saw standout guard Taylor Davidson surpass 2,000 career points.
