Helen ‘Mickey’ Williams

BYRON — Helen “Mickey” Williams passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024. Mickey’s kind and loving spirit was shared with all that had the privilege of knowing her.

 She was a graduate of Elgin High School and later worked for the Elgin School District U-46 for many years. She first worked as a secretary at Columbia Elementary School and then worked in the personnel department until she retired.

She married Robert “Bob” Williams on July 3, 1982. After a couple of years in Elgin they both retired and moved to their new home in Byron where they found a very welcoming community. They took many trips and enjoyed spending time with their rescue dogs. Mickey was an avid reader and a lover of everything chocolate. She delighted in cooking, entertaining and creating an inviting atmosphere filled with laughter and love.

 Mickey was a woman of faith and an active member of the United Church of Byron. She loved her family and being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

 Mickey is preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara “Toots” Wahl, and son Harold Paul Lalley. She is survived by her husband, Bob of Byron, children John (Daniel Rodriguez) Lalley of Elgin, Jane (Lalley) Mursewick of Elgin; grandchildren include Christopher (Casey) Lalley of Escondido, CA., Daniel Mursewick of Elgin, Matthew Mursewick of South Carolina and Morgan Mursewick of Elgin; and great grandson Desmond Lalley.

A celebration of her life will be held at a date to be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the United Church of Byron with Pastor Tyler Spellious officiating with a light luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The United Church of Byron or Tails Humane Society.
