FORRESTON – James A. Haight, Jr., age 78 of Forreston, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born Sept. 11, 1942; the son of the late James and Petunia “Tuni” Haight, Sr. James was a graduate of Freeport High School. He married Sharon Auman in 1989.
He spent many years working on the railroad and finished his career as a union roofer in the Chicago suburbs. In his retirement, James was a Licensed Minister through the Beloved Church of Lena for the past 7 years. Sharon was his best friend and first love. His passion in life was helping those in need and he was a giver in all ways. James’ favorite past time was driving in his sports cars and antiquing.
James is survived by his wife, Sharon Haight; children, Jimmy Haight, Larae (Dale) Kilts, and Jason (Andrea) Haight; step-sons, Todd (Joyce) Cassell, Jon (Lori) Cassell, Steve (Kay) Cassell, and Timothy (Stacy) Cassell; grandchildren, Hollyann Kilts, Madilyn Kilts, Jackson Haight, Riley Haight, and Sophie Haight; step-grandchildren, Amber (Allan) Denk, Andrew Cassell, Faith Cassell, Hope Cassell, Hannah Cassell, Joshua “Gunner” Cassell, Skylar (Derrick) Quick, Mycah Cassell, Trinity Cassell, Mikayla Palmer, Allison Palmer, Seth Palmer, and Alayna Palmer; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Kilts, Savana Kilts, and Cohen Kilts; step-great grandchildren, Leighton Denk, Kinsley Denk, Warner Quick, and Emora Palmer; brother, Dick (Cheryl) Haight; and sister, Pam Haight.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
