Joyce Lorraine Snyder Carr

MT. MORRIS — Joyce Lorraine Snyder Carr, 88 of 411 S. McKendrie Ave., Mount Morris, died on April 5, 2025 at Allure of Pinecrest. 

Joyce Carr was born on September 15, 1936 in Byron, the daughter of Charles and Rosetta (Eakle) Snyder. 

Joyce was married to the love of her life, Art, on January 7, 1953. They were married for 50 years until his death in 2003. 

Joyce was employed by Ogle County as a bailiff for over 20 years. 

She was active in the community and served as a Mount Morris Village Trustee, a member of the Mount Morris Planning Commission, and a member of the Mount Morris Park Board. She was instrumental in developing the skate park in Mount Morris and was proud of her involvement in the upgrades at Dillehay and Zickuhr Parks.

 She was a lifelong resident of Ogle County and attended Church of God, Oregon and was a member of Moose Lodge 1551 in Mount Morris.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and hosting family reunions every summer. 

Survivors include one daughter Catherine Rogers of Polo; one son Jack (Patty) Carr of McKinney, Texas; four grandsons, Matthew (Janelle Tanaglia) Rogers of Oregon, Marcus Rogers of Rockford, Michael Carr and Scott Carr of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth (Connie) of Stillman Valley, and David (Chris) of Byron, and one sister, Carolyn Wyllie of Byron.

 Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Art; brothers: Chuck, Bob, and infant brother Eugene; 2 sisters: Mary and Pat.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 11, 2025 at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt Street., Mount Morris, with the Rev. Rodney Caldwell officiating.  Burial is at Plainview Cemetery, Mount Morris.  Visitation is from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Friday April 11, 2025 at the funeral home.

A memorial is to be established.
