Marillyn A. Koper

OREGON – Marillyn A. Koper, age 79, died Monday, March 2, 2020 at The Atrium Assisted Living Center in Rockford. She was born July 12, 1940 in Oregon the daughter of Ehme A. and Marie (Nordman) Brass. 

She was an only child, living most of her life in Oregon, graduating from Oregon High School in 1958. She took a job at Quaker Oats machine shop as an office manager, where she worked through two different buyouts, and also did purchasing for the company during her tenure.  She retired from the company now called F.N. Smith Corporation after 43 years of employment. She retired just in time to be a grandmother. 

She married the love of her life, Alan “Al” Koper on June 29, 1968 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon. Marillyn and Al lived in the house they built together on Oregon Trail Road. She loved travelling with Al through his work, good cooking, dining out, and loved to sew, embroider, and be outside tending to her butterfly bushes. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon. 

She was predeceased by her parents. 

Marillyn is survived by her husband Alan, daughter Tanya Koper-Bowers, 2 granddaughters Samantha and Katelyn Bowers all of Oregon, and several cousins. 

A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. A memorial fund is established in Marillyn’s name.
