MT. MORRIS — Marvin “Butch” Pontnack, beloved partner, father, brother and grandfather passed away on January 19th surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Freeport, Illinois on November 10th, 1938 to Earl and Irene Pontnack. Butch was one of ten children and worked in the family truck stop business at several locations in Ogle county. In 1959 he married Connie Harris and became the father of five children.
Butch was a member of Operators Union Local 150 and was a heavy equipment operator in Oregon, Ashton and Brooklyn quarries over the years. He was a wonderful father and provider.
Later he met a very special lady, Kathy Knutti, and spent the rest of his life with her, enjoying garage saling and taking trips around the country.
Butch spent 25 years playing fast pitch softball as a catcher in the Oregon, Illinois area for Dan's Sunoco and other teams. Besides playing softball, he loved collecting coins and sports memorabilia as well as selling it out of his truck. Butch had a generous heart and enjoyed sharing with others, from taking candy to local businesses to giving away winnings from his lottery tickets.
Butch is survived by his faithful partner of over 40 years, Kathy, sisters, Judy Busker and Linda Pontnack, brothers Larry (Cherie Slack) Pontnack and Jerry (Vanessa) Pontnack, children and spouses, Lori ( Jeff) Martin, Jeff (Linda) Pontnack, James Pontnack, Amy Olson and Jason (Carrie) Pontnack and many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Family Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 25th.

Private burial will take place at Plainview Cemetery in Mt. Morris, Illinois at a later date.
