OGLE COUNTY — Marvin D. “Doug” Murray passed away July 28, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Lake Wood, CA; the son of Marvin & June (Daugherty) Murray.
Doug loved the outdoors, fishing, and we all know he loved mushroom hunting. Doug was a quiet soul with a big heart and a joke to tell. He has been an avid Raiders fan his entire life. Doug loved cooking and he was well known for that around Ogle County for many years. He then became a truck driver which he also enjoyed very much.
He is survived by sons, Jesse of Denver, CO. and Jeremiah of Austin, TX.; sister Julie (Don) Whetsel of Byron; sister-in-law Brenda Murray of Rochelle; brother-in-law Cerby Merrill of Oregon; nephews JR Murray, Chad & Clayton Merrill; nieces Erica Miller, Tina Chapman, Tabitha Murray & Darci Thrasher. Long time childhood friend Dan Dweyer. Though we will all miss him he has been reunited with those whom preceded him, his parents, brother Kenneth Murray & sister Bonnie Merrill. We will have a celebration of Doug’s life at a later date.
