FRANKLIN GROVE - Monica C. "Cookie" Berkeley, 87, formerly of Sublette, passed away Aug. 22, 2018 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 9, 1931 in Sublette, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Lauer) Becker.
She married Gene Berkeley on July 23, 1949 in Amboy. He passed in 1995. Monica was full of energy and strong in her faith. She enjoyed people and taking long walks and always a caregiver. She adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Monica is survived by Daughters, Estelle (Dave) Shippert, Byron; Linda (Michael) Coley, Dixon; Sons, Richard (Lavonne) Berkeley, Byron; Allen (Lil) Berkeley, Eldena, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and sister, Sally Pry.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sister Delores Weber, her brother Charles Becker, and Granddaughter Jeanna Coley.
Her family is very grateful for the wonderful people at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center and also Unity Hospice, for being her Guardian Angels in her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. and prior to the service.
The family requested that is lieu of flowers, that Memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
