Eric N. Holbroo , 45, of Ashton was arrested by Ogle County Sheriff's office for an illegal Transportaion of Alcohol warrant. Holbrook had a bond of $1,500/10%. Holbrook did post bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Holbrook will return to court on 03/20/20 at 9 a.m.

At approximately 5:17 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 14,000 block of West Coffman Rd, for an equipment violation. After a brief investigation Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies arrested  Joseph Polizzi, 53, of Lanark for Driving While License Suspended and a valid Warrant out of Carroll County. Polizzi was taken to the Ogle County Jail and help in lieu of bond.

Feb. 24

Jacob H. Magana, 29, of Sterling was arrested by Ogle County Sheriff's office for Failure to Appear. Magana has a bond of $369. Magana will appear in court at 9 a.m. Magana did not post bond and remains in Ogle County jail.

Feb. 23

At approximately 1:21 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of N. Route 251.  After an investigation, Deputies arrested Alejandro Sorto, 33, of Rockford for No Valid Driver's License and No Valid Registration.  Alejandro was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.

Feb. 22

At approximately 12:25 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of North 6th Street in Oregon. After a brief investigation Deputies arrested Richard Davis, a47 of Oregon, for Driving While License Revoked. Davis was also issued citations for Operating and Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Improper Lane Usage. Davis was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 1:39 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Chana for the report of shots being fired from a firearm.  Pursuant to the investigation, Elias Frankfother, 24 of Chana, was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Violation of the Concealed Carry Firearms Act and Disorderly Conduct.  Chet Harrolle, 38 of Leaf River, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. Both Frankfother and Harrolle were confined at the Ogle County Jail awaiting a court appearance. Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by the Illinois State Police and the Oregon Police Department.

Feb. 21

At approximately 3:59 p.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Kishwaukee Road and Condon Road just into Winnebago County.  After investigation Deputies placed Gene Wheller, 25 of Rockford under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. Wheller was additionally issued citations for Speeding and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. Wheller was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

At approximately 10:32 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies performed a traffic stop in the 8500 block of E. Valley View Drive.  After investigation Deputies placed Brandon Barber, 36 of Stillman Valley under arrest for Driving While License Suspended.  Barber was also issued citations for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle and a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle when the Registration is Suspended.  Barber was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

At approximately 8:49 p.m., Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 2000 block of South Ridge Rd. After further investigation Tyler Bunting, 29 of Leaf River, was arrested for Improper Cannabis Container-Driver. Bunting was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Feb. 18

At approximately 9:39 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations at the intersection of IL Rte 251 and Interstate 88 in Rochelle. The vehicle, a black BMW passenger car, did not stop for Deputies and fled from the scene. The vehicle was later located on Creston Road in rural Rochelle after being involved in a minor accident.  The driver, Joseph Calamia, 44 of Wheaton, was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and subsequently discharged. Calamia was charged with DUI, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Aggravated Fleeting to Elude, Driving while License Revoked, Reckless Driving, Possession of Stolen Property and numerous traffic violations. Calamia was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.  Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by the Rochelle Police Department and the Illinois State Police.   

Feb. 16

The Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Melinda A. Burkhart, 50, in the 1000 block of South Blackhawk Rd for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Melinda was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Henry Rd and IL Rte 26 for a traffic lane violation. After a brief investigation, Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Jesus Valdez Jr., 34 of Sterling for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Jesus was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

The Ogle County Sheriff's Office arrested Aaron Funches, 24, of Freeport for driving while license suspended. Funches was arrested by deputies on Rte 64 near Mulford Road after being stopped for speeding. Funches was held in lieu of bond at the jail.

Feb. 15

Ogle County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Tevin Gray, 24, of Rockford for driving while license reovked. Gray was arrested by deputies on I-39 after being stopped for speeding. Gray was held in lieu of bond at the jail.

At 6:58 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff Officers along with the Lynn Scott Rock Fire Dept responded to a two-vehicle injury crash on I-39 at mile marker 105. Investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies revealed that a southbound suv operated by Angelo Coglianese, 58 of Rochelle rear ended an SUV operated by Stevie Lear, 55 from Belton KY. Lear and his passenger Mary Stratton age 54 also from Belton, K.Y., were both transported by Lynn Scott Rock ambulance to Rochelle Hospital for minor injuries. Coglianese was cited for failure to reduce speed.

Feb. 14

At approximately 2:45 p.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two-vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Illinois Rte. 52 and Freeport Road just outside of Polo. It was determined that a Dodge Ram pick-up being driven by Jonathan Trogilo, 22, of Peoria was Northbound on Freeport Road and a tractor-trailer semi being driven by Ronald Steger, 57, of Epworth, IA., was westbound on Illinois Rte. 52. Troglio was stopped at the stop sign but stated he did not observe the semi approaching and pulled into the intersection. Steger was unable to stop and the pick-up was struck. Both occupants of the pick-up were uninjured and refused medical transport at the scene. Steger's semi rolled onto its side and he was transported to CGH Hospital in Sterling for minor injuries sustained. Troglio was cited for failure to yield right of way at an intersection.

Feb. 13

At 9:43 p.m., Deputies, along with Byron Fire, responded to the 10000 block of Illinois Rte 2 for a one vehicle crash.  After a short investigation Deputies arrested Michael O'brien, 21 of Rockford for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. O'brien was also cited for Improper Lane Use, Driving on the Shoulder, Unlawful Transportation of Alcohol, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. O'brien was transported to a Rockford Hospital for minor injuries. O'brien will appear in court on 03/06/2020 at 9 a.m.

Feb. 12

At 9:13 p.m. Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Illinois Rte 64 and Mongan Drive for a 1 vehicle crash.  After a short investigation Deputies arrested Larry Barnes, 30 of Oregon for DUI and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis Improper Container. Barnes also received citations for no insurance, improper lane use and no valid driver's license. Barnes was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on an I-bond and will appear in court on 3-6-20 at 9:00am

At 9:23 a.m. the Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies, Polo Police Department, Polo Fire Department, and the Polo Ambulance responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Cavanuagh Rd at RT. 26. A grey Toyota Avalon driven by Einar S. Dahl, 90 of Prospect Heights IL was southbound on Cavanaugh Rd at RT 26. when the vehicle left the right side of the road. The Toyota then crossed back over the roadway striking an embankment causing the Toyota to rollover in the field. Dahl was transported to KSB Hospital with minor injuries by The Polo Ambulance.
