OREGON — On Dec. 13 at 1:10 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North Kilbuck Road and Illinois Route 72. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 2006 Prius pulled into the path of a 2024 GMC 3500 series pickup and was struck head on. The driver of the Prius, Katharine A Korinek, 37, of DeKalb, was cited for improper left turn and no insurance. A passenger, Sarah M. Korinek, 33, of DeKalb, and Katharine were taken to Swedish American Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC, Spencer Anderson, 21, Machesney Park, was taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital for minor injuries. The Ogle County Sheriff's Office was assisted by IDOT, Illinois State Police, Kirkland Fire Ambulance, New Milford Ambulance, Monroe Center Fire, Stillman Valley Ambulance.
On Dec. 13 at approximately 11:22 p.m. deputies responded to the 1,300 block of North Illinois Route 2 for a suspicious vehicle. After investigation, deputies arrested Zita Nicole Flores, 23, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, for driving under the influence of alcohol. It was determined that a gray Kia K5 driven by Flores was involved in a crash and sustained disabling damage. Flores was later transported to the Ogle County Jail and was additionally cited for improper lane usage. Flores was issued a notice to appear and released.
On Dec. 13 at approximately 8:27 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of North Illinois Route 2. After an investigation, Arian Ajvazi, 36, of Oregon, was placed under arrest for possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle. Ajvazi was also cited for speeding and faulty rear registration light. Ajvazi was released on scene with a notice to appear.
On Dec. 13 at approximately 4:17 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 1,000 block of South Skare Road. After further investigation Brett Simpson, 39, of Rochelle, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Simpson was released on a notice to appear.
On Dec. 14 at approximately 12:33 a.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the 200 block of West Division Street in Holcomb. After investigation, deputies learned that a red Ford sedan being driven by Evan T. Ruder, 28, of Holcomb, was westbound when he left the roadway and drove through a fence, before crashing into a tree. Ruder was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Ruder was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC over .08, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Ruder was transported to the Ogle County Jail and released on a notice to appear with a later court date.
On Dec. 14 at approximately 5:33 p.m. deputies investigated a crash which occurred in the 2,200 block of North Leaf River Road. The driver of the vehicle Jay Conrad, 70, of Glasford, Illinois, was northbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered road. The vehicle then collided with a tree. Conrad was uninjured. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mt. Morris Fire and EMS.
On Dec. 15 at 3:26 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff's Office responded to the 13,000 block of East Hemstock Road for a report of a car in the creek. Upon arrival, it was determined that Veronica Garcia, 31, of Rochelle, had swerved to miss an animal in the road and lost control. Her vehicle entered the ditch and struck a utility pole before sliding into the creek. She was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Hillcrest Fire Department and the Rochelle Fire Department, as well as Ron's Towing. No citations were issued.
On Dec. 16 at 8:14 p.m. deputies conducted a warrant service in the 500 block of South 1st Street, Oregon. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Samantha Burkhart, 36, of Oregon for an outstanding Ogle County warrant for failure to appear. Burkhart was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bail.
On Dec. 17 at approximately 12:45 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at on a 2024 Kia Sportage in on Illinois Route 64 and White Rock Road. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested and cited Deandre McGhee, 34, of Chicago, for driving while license suspended. McGhee was also issued a citation for speeding and a written warning for possession of cannabis. McGhee was issued a notice to appear and released from the scene.
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
