Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Dec. 2-5, 2024

OREGON — On Dec. 2 at approximately 12:39 a.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 7,000 block of South Lowell Park Road. After further investigation Brian Cash, 61, of Oregon, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended, possession of a controlled substance - cocaine, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Cash was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol. Cash was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear.

On Dec. 3 at approximately 6:26 a.m. deputies responded to the area of Illinois Route 251 and East Twombly Road for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. After a brief investigation, deputies discovered that Stephen D. King, 34, of Hillcrest, was stopped on Illinois Route 251 in his gray Hyundai passenger car, attempting to turn onto East Twombly road, when Garret M. Hegland, 30, of Rochelle, struck the rear bumper of King's vehicle in his black Nissan Sentra. King was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle EMS for suspected minor injuries. Hegland was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  

On Dec. 4 at approximately 6:20 a.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Illinois Route 52 and Freeport Road.  It was initially reported with unknown injuries. After an investigation by deputies it was determined that a maroon Chevrolet Impala being driven by Eli D. Smith, 22, of Durand, was southbound on Freeport Road and failed to yield right of way to a White GMC pick-up that was eastbound on Illinois Route 52 and being driven by Michael A. Hinrichs, 66, of Lanark.  The Impala entered the roadway and struck the GMC.  Smith was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection. All individuals involved in the incident refused medical attention at the scene. 

On Dec. 4 at 9:12 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of South Illinois Route 2. As a result, deputies arrested Kimberly B. Lowery, 39, of Morrison for driving while license revoked. Lowery was additionally issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration. A passenger, Tyler A. Morris, 26, of Rock Falls, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine less than five grams, as well as a Lee County warrant for larceny, and an Jackson County, Missouri warrant for damage to property/business. Both Lowery and Morris were transported to the Ogle County Jail. Lowery was released on a notice to appear. Morris was released on a notice to appear on his Ogle County charge, and detained on the Lee County and Jackson County, Missouri warrant.

On Dec. 4 at approximately 6:40 p.m. deputies conducted a warrant service in the 11,000 block of East Lincoln Lane in Rochelle. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Matthew C. Bearrows, 44, of Rochelle, on an outstanding Ogle County warrant for failure to appear - aggravated battery to a peace officer. Bearrows was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

On Dec. 5 at 3:07 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff's Office responded to a rural Rochelle address in regard to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, an investigation was completed and Jacob A. Fore, 24, of Rochelle, was arrested for domestic battery. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail and detained pending a court appearance.

On Dec. 5 at 4:41 p.m. deputies were notified of a two-vehicle crash at South Woodlawn Road and East Gillis Road. One vehicle, a silver Buick, was reportedly in the west ditch on its side. After a brief investigation, it was learned that the silver Buick, driven by Virginia Kettleson, 99, of Esmond, was traveling northbound on South Woodlawn Road. A tan GMC Sierra, driven by Nolan Hansen, 23, of Rochelle was traveling westbound on East Gillis Road. Hansen stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection, striking the silver Buick in the passenger side. Kettleson was transported via Superior Helicopter to a local hospital. Hansen was uninjured and was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. The Ogle County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Rochelle EMS/Fire, Creston Fire and Superior Helicopter.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
