Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: June 6-9, 2025

OREGON — On June 6 at approximately 12:02 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Blackhawk Drive in Byron.  After investigation, deputies placed Jason Leezer, 45, of Loves Park under arrest for driving while license revoked. Leezer was additionally issued citations for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.  Leezer was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear.

On June 6 at 10:28 a.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries in the 13,000 block of East Illinois Route 64.  Upon arrival, deputies learned that a black Toyota Rav4, driven by James Miller, 62, of Oregon, was traveling eastbound in the 13,000 block of East Illinois Route 64.  A blue Chrysler 200, driven by Marquez Mason, 34, of Matteson, was also traveling eastbound on East Illinois Route 64 before stopping in a construction zone in front of the Toyota. The Toyota then failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the Chrysler, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.  Mason and his passenger, Cynthia Jackson, 33, of Chicago, were transported to Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.  Miller was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

On June 7 at approximately 12:59 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of North Illinois Route 251. After investigation, deputies placed Klinique Champion, 42, of Rockford, under arrest for driving while license suspended. Champion was additionally cited for improper lighting-one headlight. Champion was released on scene with a notice to appear and a future court date.

On June 7 at approximately 8:50 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 251 and Illinois Route 72. After investigation, deputies placed Kristy Dolister, 34, of Rochelle, under arrest for an active Ogle County warrant for driving while license suspended.  Dolister was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held pending a court appearance in front of a judge. 

On June 7 at approximately 12:06 a.m. deputies responded to the 9,000 block of West Illinois 72 for a single motorcycle crash. After a brief investigation, deputies determined that the driver, Austin D. Mitchell, 23, of Leaf River, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the westbound ditch. Mitchell was transported to FHN Memorial Hospital. Mitchell was issued citations for failure to give notice of an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, with a future court date.

On June 8 at approximately 12:32 a.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 7,000 block of North Illinois Route 2. After further investigation Carmen Blevins, 31, of Rockford, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Blevins was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, and improper lane usage. Blevins was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released on a notice to appear.

On June 8 at approximately 2:17 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 7,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. After investigation, deputies placed a juvenile, 17, of Rockford, under arrest for no valid driver's license. The juvenile was given a notice to appear and released to a parent on scene. The juvenile was also cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration.

On June 9 at approximately 9:04 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of East Illinois Route 64. After investigation, deputies placed Carlos De Los Reyes, 26, of Rochelle under arrest for driving while license suspended. De Los Reyes was additionally cited for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. De Los Reyes was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On June 9 at approximately 7:49 p.m. deputies responded to a single-vehicle non-injury accident in the 600 block of Main Street in Leaf River. After an investigation, Travis D Tryggestad, 36, of Leaf River, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Tryggestad was also cited for DUI-alcohol concentration .08 or more, driving while driver’s license suspended, failure to remain at the scene of a vehicle damage accident, failure to report an accident, illegal transportation/possession of alcoholic liquor by driver in a motor vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance-cocaine. Tryggestad was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
