OREGON — On Tuesday, March 11, the Oregon Park District Board of Commissioners convened for their regularly scheduled meeting.
During this session, the board approved the district’s participation in a community solar program, which is projected to save the district approximately $1,700 annually. This initial savings will cover a portion of the Nash Recreation Center's electricity and the district’s smaller accounts. The savings are expected to increase as a larger portion of the district’s electrical usage is absorbed by the community solar program.
In addition to the solar program, the board approved the purchase of a new playground for Park East at a cost of $100,000. The playground is scheduled to be installed in the summer of 2025, providing new recreational opportunities for the community.
The board also took the opportunity to recognize Commissioner Dan Engelkes for his 13 years of dedicated service. Mr. Engelkes' term will expire at the end of April, and he has chosen not to seek re-election. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Engelkes has demonstrated immense professionalism and has been a key contributor to park development, policy formation, and program support. The park district congratulates him on his years of service and acknowledges that his dedication to public service will be greatly missed.
The Oregon Park District looks forward to the positive impacts these new initiatives will bring to the community.
