OREGON — The Oregon Park District Nash Recreation pool renovations were completed in September 2024, with one outstanding amenity eagerly awaited: the AquaZip’N. This unique feature replaces the diving board.

Manufacturing timelines originally estimated the AquaZip’N would be installed in November or early December 2024. However, delays have persisted, and the new anticipated delivery and installation date is now slated for March 2025.

Erin Folk, executive director of the Oregon Park District, explained the reason for the delay: “After the continual delay on delivery of our new AquaZip’N, I was able to speak directly with the manufacturer this week. The delay is due to additional fabrication that is necessary to meet Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidelines.”

She elaborated further, stating, “Originally, the delivery date was developed using stock pieces to meet our customization needs. The company quickly realized all components, from the base to the retraction system, would need to be customized to meet the approved Illinois specifications.”

An AquaZip’N has not previously been purchased or installed in Illinois due to the state’s strict IDPH guidelines. The customization of the unit allows the Oregon Park District to be the first in the state to install an AquaZip’N, paving the way for other agencies to pursue this feature in the future.

Folk added, “While we are disappointed in the delay, it continues to prove that the Oregon Park District strives to be on the cutting edge of parks and recreation with our amenities and programs.”

A grand opening celebration will be announced once the Oregon Park District receives confirmation of the final delivery date.
