BYRON – Phyllis A. Hagemann, age 87, passed away at OSF Saint Anthony in Rockford on Jan. 5, 2022. She was born in Mt. Morris on Jan. 9, 1934 the daughter of Marlin and Ruby (Angle) Carr.
She married Jimmy Hagemann on July 9, 1954. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1981. Phyllis worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the United Church of Byron, co-founder of a family powersports business, and a life member of the Forest City Riders M.C., Phyllis had a love for traveling, genealogy and a developed interest in the regional farming community. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, and gardening. However, the most important thing in her life was her family.
She is survived and missed by her children, Janet (Marc) Burwell of Boulder City, Nev., Gary (Valerie) Hagemann of Byron, Douglas (Terry) Hagemann of Harriman, Tenn., Kayla Cunningham of Fenton, Mo., and Dean Hagemann of Byron; loving companion of 37 years, James Zuidema; grandchildren, Garon Burwell, Alyssa (Nathan) Lasoff, Danielle (Sean) Lynch, Ariel (Lyle) Pratt, Jason Crabtree, Justin (Tina) Hagemann, and Kysa (David) Boll; and great grandchildren, Wesley, Vivian, Fabian, Johanna, Annabelle, Gideon, and Tamzyn.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy and son-in-law, Jeff Cunningham.
