OREGON – Oregon Elementary School raised $700 within two days for the American Red Cross to contribute to tornado relief efforts in southern Illinois and Kentucky.
To raise the funds, an Oregon Elementary staff member and several students hosted a coin drive. Student leaders collected the money before school, as kids arrived.
“The $700 exceeded our expectations as we only anticipated $100-200,” said Assistant Principal Ryan Huels.
The $700 was a part of a total $40,000 nationwide raised for the tornado victims.
Huels added the Oregon School District was delighted to see their young ones partake in such a worthwhile project.
