BYRON – Byron Civic Theatre (BCT returns to live theatre this holiday season with The Game’s Afoot (or Holmes for the Holidays), a play written by Ken Ludwig.
“We are thrilled to bring live theatre back to the local community,” said Pete Rosa, Byron Civic Theatre president. “Over the years, we have worked hard to build a strong connection with our audiences. The opportunity to revisit that relationship has everyone excited.”
Byron Civic Theatre’s production of The Game’s Afoot opens Nov. 26-28 and continues Dec. 3-5, with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are general admission seating and will be available at the door for all performances. No advance sales.
The Game’s Afoot is a whodunit set in December 1936 at the home of Broadway star William Gillette, who is admired for his leading role in the play, Sherlock Holmes. Gillette invites his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle, but when one of the guests turns up dead, the festivities in this isolated house quickly turn dangerous.
Byron Civic Theatre’s production features a community cast of talented actors who keep the audience engaged through non-stop action and laughs.
“This production will not only entertain, it will put the whole family in the holiday spirit,” said Dawn Degenhardt, Director. “The actors bring to life a story that’s wild, funny, and a great return to live theatre for BCT.”
The Story
It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.
