EAST PEORIA — The Byron Middle School track and field program had several athletes compete and earn medals during the IESA State Championship at East Peoria High School from May 23-24.
On the girls side, Byron's 400-meter relay group of Harper Hogan, Kenna Boyer, Hadley Considine and Mila Snyder medaled in fourth with a time of 53.84 seconds. Byron also earned medals in the 200-meter dash (Hadley Considine - second in 27.08 seconds and Mila Snyder - fourth in 27.49 seconds), high jump (Bella Engberg - eighth at 1.34 meters), pole vault (Iris Nielsen - fifth at 2.21 meters) and long jump (Hadley Considine - seventh at 4.72 meters).
On the boys side, Byron medaled in the discus (Brooks Auker - third at 46.15 meters), shot put (Jared Althoff - seventh at 13.15 meters) and the long jump (Briggs Hubbard - eighth at 5.03 meters).
