Polo Aplington eighth-grader Abram Garcia won the 800-meter run during the IESA 2A State Championships at East Peoria High School, clocking in with a time of 2:02.90. Garcia also finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:41.54 and helped Polo Aplington take 11th in the 1600-meter relay.
After the state meet, Garcia raced at the HOKA Festival of Miles in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, finishing second in the Junior High Boys 1500-meter run with a time of 4:11.35 and second in the Junior High Boys 1600-meter run with a time of 4:29.39. Garcia competed at the Brooks PR Invitational in Washington on June 8, taking seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.63.
