POLO – Wallace Dean Mackey, 88 of Polo, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 at Polo Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1931 in Fair Haven, Ill., the son of Raymond D. and Anna Amelia (Yoeckel) Mackey.
He married Evelyn Louise Bickford on Feb. 3, 1951 and had just celebrated 69 years of marriage. Wallace was a Welder for the former Imeco in Polo for many years. After retirement he enjoyed helping his fellow neighbors with their yard work and taking long walks through town.
Survivors include wife, Evelyn, 3 daughters, Laura Wishard of Norcross, Ga., Cynthia Ditzler of Polo, and Kathy (Steve) Witkowski of Buckley, Wash., 3 grandchildren – Katie (Dave) Marceau of Polo, Jacob (Candace) Ditzler of Chandler, Ariz., Jason Witkowski of Bonney Lake,
Wash. 3 great-grandchildren, Tatum Ditzler of Chandler, Ariz., James Witkowski of Bonney Lake, Wash., Brooklyn Marceau of Polo, and 1 brother Robert Mackey of Franklin Grove. There are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Anna Mackey, 6 brothers, Raymond Jr., Wilbur, Arnold, Warren (Pete), George, and David, 3 sisters, Evelyn Jensen, Carol Mackey and Linda Mackey, and son-in-law, Richard Ditzler.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., Polo. Burial will be private at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in his name.
